Yes, that might provide a deserved right royal flush for that "loud crack" gluteus maximus insult. (Hey, "You started it!")

A family outing for ice cream sounds a lot tastier, softer and more fun. Might I suggest (to Caitlyn) a visit to the Petersen Ice Cream Parlour in Oak Park (www.petersens.biz/)? The only thing those hospitable folks hit you with is a ton of friendly "advice" on what to sample!

I also think that Kevin and you should offer to (stoically) accompany the female members of Clan Keefe when The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Part II is released. Ideally this would make proper amends...to a tee.

Not the royal "we," Judy--although Kim and Caitlyn did want to crown me.

Kevin loves golf, so he was a shoo-in. Caitlyn barely hit the ball every time, which made the event less fun for her--even before my ball met her backside.

We've let Caitlyn take her turn picking the family-time events. It usually involves ice cream.

Curious, when you say:

"We decided that it would be fun to take our 12-year-old son, Kevin, and daughter, Caitlyn, for an afternoon of non-competitive golf."

Is the "we" a royal we, a "Tom and Kim we" or was it a "foursome we?"

In line with your Communication Lessons, I was wondering how much "fun" buy-in you had from Kevin (and especially poor Caitlyn) from the beginning. (I vote that she get to pick the next "quality" family-time outing.)

BTW, I bet Caitlyn is annoyed with you for mentioning her "butt" in a blog. Good thing you didn't say the other forbidden word (underwear). Such a dad! ;-)
