Preparation for a major crisis is an important subject area for many communicators. I recently wrote a post on this topic on the main blog of the International Association of Business Communicators. Judy Gombita, who has finally joined the blogosphere as a blogger, alerted me to a great report published by The Conference Board of Canada about lessons from Hurricane Katrina: Tough Times in the Big Easy: Lessons From a Catastrophe. Registration is required, but is free.

Thanks Judy, and congratulations; I’ll be reading your posts!

You’re welcome, Tom. The Conference Board of Canada is very thorough in its research, so generally whenever its reports are “free,” I take them up on the offer to download them and/or point them out to colleagues where applicable. (Consider signing up for its e-newsletter and receive the information directly.)

And thanks for the kind words of welcome; however, I most point out that PR Conversations is very much an international collaborative effort (spearheaded by the inimitable Toni Muzi Falconi from Italy), so I’m a part-time blogger at best. What thrills the original six of us (soon to be seven) is the interest expressed by several other public relations practitioners/academics from different parts of the world, to also become contributors to PR Conversations.

Thanks for stopping by today; I hope you travel over a great deal in the future, too.
